RasGas supplies 1,000th LNG cargo to Korea

DOHA, QATAR - 27TH JANUARY 2010

RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) has successfully loaded its 1,000th cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for the Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS).

The historic 1,000th cargo was loaded on 27th January 2010 aboard the SK Sunrise, a KOGAS-chartered LNG vessel, which is now making its way towards South Korea. RasGas has been supplying KOGAS with LNG since 1999, under a series of long and medium-term sales and purchase agreements, as well as spot sales.

"This landmark cargo marks the latest in a long line of 'firsts' that RasGas and KOGAS have celebrated together, "said Hamad Rashid Al Mohannadi, RasGas Managing Director - CEO. "Since RasGas delivered its first cargo of LNG to KOGAS in 1999, both companies have expanded significantly. Today RasGas is one of the world's largest producers of LNG and KOGAS is the world's largest single importer of LNG. RasGas is pleased to have participated in the business growth of KOGAS, and we hope to expand this business relationship in the future."

KOGAS was RasGas' first long-term customer and the two companies enjoy a strong and strategic relationship. RasGas signed its first sales and purchase agreement (SPA) in 1995 with KOGAS for the supply of 2.4 million tonnes per annum (Mta), subsequently increased to 4.9 Mta over 25 years. In 2007 a second SPA followed, for 2.1 Mta until 2026. In 2008 the Tembek delivered to KOGAS the first ever Q-Flex cargo, and in 2009 the company received RasGas' first Q-Max cargo, aboard the Al Dafna.
