20 Million safe working hours at RasGas

DOHA, QATAR - 05TH FEBRUARY 2008

The RasGas Common Offplot Projects Team, with their prime contractor Fluor Mideast Limited, held a celebration yesterday on the occasion of completing 20 million safe work hours without a Lost Time incident.

The RasGas Project Management Team, Fluor and each contractor organisation representing a total project workforce of approximately 8000 people are fully committed to achieving an injury free workplace. The Common Offplot Projects involve the installation of world-scale storage and offloading facilities for liquid hydrocarbon products that are produced in association with natural gas at Ras Laffan Industrial City.

This remarkable safety milestone was achieved by a diverse workforce made up of people from more than thirty countries, including: Qatar, South Africa, India, Philippines, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Malaysia, the United States of America, Canada and the United Kingdom.  The team overcame daily challenges associated with heavy construction to maintain a united safety minded culture among this large and diverse team.

The contribution of the project workforce was recognised during a recent celebration at the Common Offplot Projects camp in Ras Laffan Industrial City. A special awards ceremony was also held yesterday in Doha to recognize senior management representatives from associated organizations including the RasGas Project Management Team, Fluor and the rest of the contractors Nasser Al Hajri, CB&I, Teyseer, ESS and Astaldi Arabia  for their role in this world-class accomplishment. The luncheon was officiated by RasGas Managing Director (CEO), Hamad Rashid Al Mohannadi and was attended by numerous dignitaries.

The RasGas Common Offplot Projects Team will continue to champion the innovative and highly successful -Zero Incidents-programme with the goal of no injuries through the duration of this project which is on schedule for completion by early next year.
Commenting on this achievement, Mr. Al Mohannadi said "This is an outstanding safety milestone and demonstrates what can be achieved when we work together as a team to create a culture which promotes an incident free workplace". Continuing, he stated ?Our ongoing goal is to achieve, foster and sustain best-in-class standards in safety."
This continued pacesetting performance reflects RasGas' long standing philosophy and commitment to ensuring the highest safety standards are met in all aspects of its corporate business.

RasGas makes landmark entry into Portugal

RasGas Company Limited has demonstrated once again to be a world-leading energy supplier with its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) delivery into Portugal.

The spot sale cargo was delivered today to an affiliate of Galp Energia SPGS, S.A., at the Sines LNG Terminal in Portugal, from the LNG tanker Al Deebel. RasGas supports women and children through Al-Khor’s Qadrat Development Centre

For the third consecutive year, RasGas Company Limited (RasGas), under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, is continuing its support of the Al-Khor-based Qadrat Development Centre by donating funds and books to support their initiatives in Qatar.
